Advising - Transfer Students - FAQ

  1. I´ve been accepted to EKU, am I automatically in the program I chose?
    No. If your CARES report reads "pre" before your major then you must be accepted into the major program. Each program accepts applicant´s differently so check with the program of choice for verification.
  2. I´m interested in radiography, ultrasound technician, respiratory care, or medical assisting. Does EKU offer any of these programs?
    No. Currently these programs can be found in community colleges and technical schools.
  3. What is a pre-professional program?
    A pre-professional program is one that you can begin at EKU by completing the general education curriculum, supporting courses and the basic prerequisite courses (and/or completing a degree) before going to a graduate program or professional school.
  4. I´m interested in a pre-professional program (i.e. medicine, physical therapy, etc.). Does EKU have these?
    Yes. The College of Health Sciences at EKU has pre-physical therapy, pre-physician assistant and pre-dental hygiene (Pre-Professional Curricula). Pre-dental, pre-med, and pre-pharmacy are located in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  5. I´m transferring to EKU. How can I see where my previous coursework will transfer to EKU?
    • Go to http://ky.transfer.org/cas/.
    • Click equivalencies by school center of page under "Courses" heading.
    • Select Eastern Kentucky University from drop down box.
    • Select US States from drop down box.
    • Select Kentucky or applicable state from drop down box, click go.
    • Click in the box at end of all schools to add under the add column, click add schools.
    • Click create guide select equivalencies from drop down boxes provided at top of page.
    • Two columns will appear, one for the school of your choice and one for EKU.
  6. How do I transfer from another university or college to Eastern Kentucky University?
    Apply via the Admissions page on the EKU website (http://www.eku.edu/futurestudents/), supply transcripts of all previous college coursework, and wait for your admission letter.
  7. Will all of my transfer courses be accepted by the College of Health Sciences at EKU?
    The Transfer Center (SSB 129) will evaluate courses which are transferred to EKU from your previous institution. The department of your major may accept courses as support if they so choose.
  8. I was not accepted into the program of my choice. What do I do now?
    You may see the College Advisor, Raglena Salmans, to discover other opportunities in the College of Health Sciences at EKU.
