The Department of Occupational Therapy is dedicated
to the study of occupation and occupational therapy through the engagement
of students and faculty
in learning, scholarship and service across a continuum of educational
experiences.
Student
Outcomes
Graduates
of the Occupational Science Program are prepared for graduate education
or employment in non-credentialed health careers. Students achieve the
following outcomes.

knowledge of occupational science to address the needs of individuals
and society.

the reasoning required of health and human service professionals.
- Collaborate
with diverse people, communities, agencies and disciplines.
- Demonstrate

Graduates of the
entry-level Master's of Science program in Occupational Therapy are
prepared for positions as occupational therapists, and graduates of the post-professional
Master's of Science program advance their skills and competencies in practice,
research, and professional roles. Students achieve the following outcomes.
- Design, provide
and analyze evidence-based occupational therapy services that engage
people in occupation to support their participation in context.
- Contribute
to occupational therapy practice, education and research through the ethical
application of reasoning abilities.
- Collaborate with others to promote the health and well-being of diverse
persons and communities.
- Inform, negotiate,
advocate, and consult with diverse persons, disciplines and communities
to facilitate and promote health.
- Reflect the
profession's values, principles and beliefs in carrying out professional
responsibilities.
The Doctoral Program
in Rehabilitation Sciences is designed to produce research and academic leaders
in rehabilitation sciences for the professions of communication disorders,
physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training.
